PROCESSION: The Corpus Christi Procession held on Saturday evening after the Vigil Mass was again a very special occasion for the Community and the Parish. The big crowd who took part included members of different organisations, various groups of children and the junior infants carrying their baskets of petals. Leading the procession were members of the Southern Brigade FCA who also gave a special salute in the Church at the consecration of the Vigil Mass. When the procession reached the top of St Patricks Terrace, the crowd stood in silence as the Blessed Sacrament carried by Very Rev Mossy Brick PP under a special canopy, was taken to an altar for Open Air Benediction. After the priest blessed the crowd and the four corners of the parish, it as nice to hear everyone join in with the choir for the singing of “Faith of our Fathers” as the ceremony came to a close. Thanks is due to Garda Chris Noonan, the FCA, Fr Brick and the organising committee under the chairmanship of Bill Buckley, to the Parish choir and to Patricia O’Connell and Padraig Coolahan for their contribution. Thanks also to the FÁS workers and John Mulvihill and to the residents of St Patricks Terrace and the Town who had their homes and business premises decorated appropriately for the occasion.
