DEATH: Sincere regret was occasioned in the parish, when the news was received of the death of Miss Nellie Doyle, Tieraclea. Nellie, who had been ill for just two months was one of the old stock of the parish, and will be sadly missed by the members of her family, her neighbours and friends. She was well known for her great love of nature and the land and even though she was in her early 80s, she still had kept a few cattle on her land. Nellie was a lady of many qualities and gifts and down through the years, the Doyle household was well known for its gardens of fruit and vegetables, and also for the different variety of flowers that are still to be seen round the family home. She was a woman of great faith and was an esteemed member of the local community. There was a large attendance at the removal of the remains from her residence to St Marys Church, Tarbert on Sunday evening, and again at the concelebrated funeral mass and burial, which took place to Kilnaughtin Cemetery on Monday. Mass was concelebrated by Very Rev Mossy Brick, assisted by Fr Martin Buckley. Family members participated in the readings, and prayers of the faithful. Nellie is survived by her sisters, Sr Imelda, Gallup, New Mexico, USA, Sr Anne, Santa Fe, New Mexico and Mrs Rita Bergeman, Hanworth, Middlesex, sister in law, Mrs Julia Doyle, nephews, nieces, neighbours, and friends, to whom sympathy of the community is extended.
