SENIOR TEAM: At Shannon park on Sunday, our senior team advanced to the semi final of the Castleisland Co Op Centenary Cup, with a hard earned victory over Templenoe. Tarbert won by a score of 0-12 to 1-7. The team dominated the first quarter, to lead by 0-5 to 0-2. Coming up to half time, Tarbert held a four point advantage, suddenly Templenoe hit back with a goal and a point, to leave the sides level at half time, with a score of 0-7 to 1-4. During the first half, our forwards were guilty of missing several good scoring chances. The 2nd half was a ding dong struggle, with the Tarbert back line heroic in defence and four fine long range points scored by Patsy O’Connell, Eoin O’Connell, John Holly and Shaun McGinley were to prove vital scores. In the final minutes of the game, the visitors strove hard to get the vital goal, but the Tarbert defence held out, and Tarberts final score was a well taken point by sub Ambrose Lanigan. Wing back, Brian Carrig, was Tarberts man of the match.
The team was D Enright, S Stack, J Wren, M Sheehan, B Carrig, C Holly, S Deenihan, E O’Connell 0-1, K Deenihan, J Holly 0-2, K Wren 0-1, P O’Connell 0-2, D Lanigan 0-2, S McGinley 0-3, N Stack. Sub A Lanigan 0-1. The team are fixed to play Keel in the semi final this weekend.
