  Tarbert Notes - Week Ending 29th May
   
  THERE  was no winner of the €9,000 jackpot in the GAA lottery draw, held at Savages Bar on Friday night. The numbers drawn were 2, 9, 21, 26. Lucky dip winners of €30 each were Bridget Boland, Joe Cussen, Chris Foley, Mary and Rose Ahearne, Elizabeth Scanlon. Bar prize winners were Tom White €50 in the envelope draw. €20 each Gabrielle Kiely, Johnny Wren, Geraldine Flavin, promoters prize €20, Swanky Bar. The next jackpot will be a massive €9,100
and the draw will be held at the Wicked Wolf Bar on this Friday night. All are welcome.
   
  GARDA RETIRES :   Having completed almost 31 years in the Garda force, Tom Halpin has retired. Tom, who is son of Mrs Kathy Halpin and the late John Halpin, Mealcon, Tarbert, served with the force in Cork City all those years. Every good wish is extended to Tom for a happy retirement with his wife, Vera and their three sons.
   
  CAKE SALE:   A cake sale will be held in the Community Centre on this Saturday night, after the vigil mass. The proceeds from the cake sale will go towards the paying off of the remaining debt of €200, on the Church radios for the housebound and to build up a fund to purchase extra radios. All cakes, tarts, buns etc can be handed in at the Community Centre between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday evening, and the usual good support will be greatly appreciated.
   
  TARBERT NS: Enrolment forms now available for Tarbert NS, telephone 068-36282. Children must be four years of age on or before Sept 30, 2003.
   
  INFORMATION NIGHT:  There will be an information night in the Community IT Access Centre, Tarbert at 8pm on this Thursday, May 29. The information night, organised by the Shannonside Womens Group, will consist of guest speakers from the Citizens Information, and the VEC. The information night is open to both members and non members.
   
  CEILI: West Limerick set dancing club are holding a ceili at the Railway Bar on this Thursday, May 29 at 9.30pm. Music by Tim Joe and Ann.
   
  SHANNON RANGERS:  At Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Saturday evening, Shannon Rangers had a good victory over St Brendans in the losers round of the Co senior FC. The five Tarbert players on the team all played their part in thevictory, and they were Shaun McGinley, Denis Kiely, Stevie Deenihan, Donnacha Enright and Jonathan Wren.
 
  SUNDAYS GAME: Shannon Rangers play St Kierans in the Co senior c’ship at Shannon Park, Tarbert on this Sunday, June 1 at 2.30pm. The winners will go through to the last 16 of the Co c’ship.
   
  BRIDEWELL 10TH ANNIVERSARY:  A 10th anniversary celebration concert will be held in the Tarbert Bridewell at 8.30pm on next Monday, June 2. Local and guest artists will take part, and proceeds will go to Listowel Hospice.
   
  FUND RAISER:  Parents Assoc of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Ballybunion are holding a pub quiz at Jack Js Pub, Asdee, on this Thursday, may 29 at 9.30pm. All welcome.
   
  SAGE COURSE:  Community IT Access Tarbert sage curse. The centre is at present accepting registrations for a City and Guilds certified course, which will commence on July 29. As there is considerable interest in this course, it is advisable to reserve a place without delay. Contact the Centre at 068-36938/36939. Alternately call to the Community IT Access Centre in person.
   
  JUNIOR TEAM:  The Tarbert junior team lost to Ballydonoghue in the Co league Div 3 game, played in Shannon Park on Friday evening, by a score of 3-9 to 2-7. The game was evenly contested throughout, with Ballydonoghue getting two late goals to clinch victory. Best for Tarbert were D Enright, P Moriarty, A Lanigan, J Holly and S Langan.
