DEATH:
The unexpected death at Tralee General Hospital on March 10 of Mrs
Ethel ONeill, nee Durkin, Kilcolgan, Tarbert, and late of Charlestown,
Co Mayo, was received with sadness and shock, by her family, neighbours
and many friends in the locality. She was a highly esteemed and popular
lady in the community and will be remembered for her humility and
gentleness. All her life her top priorities always were her family,
the home and her faith. The deceased lady and her husband, Sean got
married in New York, where they worked for a number of years, before
returning to live in Kilcolgan, 30 years ago. Mrs ONeill loved
to travel to Tarbert and Ballylongford on her bicycle and always had
time for a chat with a neighbour or a friend.
There was a huge attendance at the removal of her remains from St
Marys Funeral Home, Tarbert, to St Marys Church and again at the concelebrated
funeral mass and burial in Kilnaughtin Cemetery.
The chief concelebrant at the mass was Very Rev Mossy Brick, PP Tarbert.
The other concelebrants were Very Rev Philip OConnell, PP, Ballylongford,
Rev Padraig Kennelly, CC, Castleisland and Rev Fr Fagan, Milford.
Family members participated in the readings, prayers of the faithful,
and offertory procession. Mrs ONeill is survived by her husband,
Sean, sons Shawn, New York, James, Lisselton, daughter Mrs Mags OConnor,
Tralee, daughters in law, Ann and Jenny, son in law, Brian, brother,
sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, grandchildren, nephews,
nieces, relatives and friends to whom sympathy of the community is
extended. |

LA
LE PADRAIG: In Tarbert, it was in St Marys Church that the
feast of our National Apostle, St Patrick, was celebrated in a true
Irish tradition. Fr Mossy Brick celebrated all the masses in Irish.
During the masses a brief run down on the life of St Patrick was given.
Great credit is due to the
readers, to the people taking the part of St Patrick, to the Folk
Choir and Oonagh OHanlon, and to the senior choir and John Dowling
for the beautiful rendering of the hymns in the Irish language and
the singing of Hail Glorious St Patrick, at the end of the masses. |

CO

in Shannon Park on Sunday. The final score was Tarbert 1-10, Renard

the hour were guilty of losing possession of the ball too easily and
giving too many stray passes. The team line out was N Kelly, S Stack,
S Deenihan, M Sheahan, J Wren, C Holly, A Langan, A Holly, K Deenihan,
E OConnell, D Kiely, D Lanigan, K Wren, J Holly, P OConnell.

: People of the area were shocked and saddened at the death of Mrs
Johanna (Joan) Faley (nee Foley), Ballyline, Ballylongford, and late
of Tieraclea, Tarbert, which took place suddenly in St Marys Funeral
Home, Tarbert on March 11, where she was attending the funeral of
the last Mrs Ethel ONeill, Kilcolgan. She was sister of the
late Mossy Foley, Tieraclea.
Sympathy of the community is extended to the Faley family of Ballyline,
