  Tarbert Notes - Week Ending 28th February
   
  BASIC and intermediate computer courses are ongoing at Community IT Access, Tarbert. Auto Cad course commences Monday, march 10, and for further info, contact the Centre. It is proposed to hold a certificate course in Sage in the near future, again for further information, contact the Centre at 068-36938. Services provided by the Centre, PC use, photocopying, fax service, e-mail and internet use and one to one tuition.
   
  CAKE SALE: Shannonside Womens group are organising a cake sale, in aid of the Special Olympics on this Saturday night, March 1 after the vigil mass. Anyone who would like to help in any way can contact Marie Sweeney at 36434, Mary Holland at 34422 or any member of the womens group. The Community Centre will be open from 6pm on Saturday evening.
   
  MEMORIAL MASS: A Memorial mass for the late Fr Jimmy O’Connell will be celebrated in St Marys Church, Tarbert on Friday, March 7 at 8pm, first Friday. The mass has been arranged by the Tarbert Folk Choir. A 2nd Memorial mass has been arranged for a later date by the Tarbert Senior Choir.
   
  GAA LOTTERY: There was no winner of the €7,500 jackpot in the GAA lottery draw, held at the Lanterns Hotel on Friday night. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 11, 16. Lucky dip winners of €30 each were John McGinley, Sean Holly, Kay Fitzelle, Jackie Harnett. Bar prize winners were Tom Mahony €20 in the envelope draw, €15 each Ned Holland, Nell Heffernan, John Dowling. Promoters prize, €15 The Swanky Bar. The next jackpot will be €7,600 and the draw will be held at the Swanky Bar on this Friday night. Music and entertainment will be provided with special guest, Liam Purtill.
   
  PLAY: The smash hit play, Bawdy and Soul will be staged at the Comprehensive School, Tarbert on this Friday night, February 28 at 8pm. Tickets €10 each can be booked at the School office 068-36105. All proceeds from the play go towards the School Books fund.
   
  RESIDENTS DRAW: The following were the winners in the Kilpadogue Woodview Residents Assoc draw, held on February 21. 1st prize Winnie Carrig, 2nd Margaret Noonan. House prize Bridget Boland.
   
  GAA MEMBERSHIP: A reminder that the closing date for membership of the Tarbert GAA club is this Friday, February 28. Membership cost €10, students €5 and players who have paid their insurance premium of €25 are automatic members.
   
  W LIMERICK SET DANCING CLUB: Annual workshop weekend in Abbeyfeale, February
28, to March 2.
Schedule as follows, Friday, ceili in Railway Bar, at 9.30pm, music by The Four Courts. Saturday, workshop in Convent Hall from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Workshop by Betty McCoy and Pat Murphy. Workshop on traditional step dancing by Celine Tubridy. Workshop on set dancing for u17s by John Fennell, ceili at 9.30pm, music by the Abbey Ceili band. Sunday, workshop from 11am to 1pm. Ceili at 2.30pm, music by Taylors Cross.
   
  TARBERT BEAVERS: Tarbert Beavers have completed a project on the Shannon Dolphins in the Estuary. The children are very proud of their work, and it is presently displayed on Coollahans window in Main St. Well done to all the children and their leaders.
   
  SYMPATHY: Of the community is extended to Mrs Joan Anglim, Tarmons Hill, Tarbert on the death last week of her sister,Mrs Catherine McInerney of Glin
   
  90TH BIRTHDAYS: Congratulations to Mrs Josie Kelly, Kilpadogue, Tarbert and Limerick on the celebration of her 90th birthday. Mrs Kelly celebrated the occasion in Limerick with family members on February 17. Congrats also to Mrs Lilian Fitzelle, Glencullaire, Tarbert, who celebrated her 90th birthday on February 13. Mrs Fitzelle celebrated the special occasion with her family members. On behalf of the community, the writer wishes these two special ladies the best of health and happiness in the years ahead.
   
  LABOUR CLUB AGM: The AGM of the Tarbert Labour Club will be held in the Community Centre, Tarbert on next Tuesday night, March 4 at 8.30pm.
   
  GAA MEETING: A meeting of the Tarbert GAA club will be held on this Thursday
night at 8.30pm in the dressing rooms.
