  Tarbert Notes - Week Ending 21st November
   
  CHRISTY Kenneally of TV and Radio fame will give a talk on life after loss at the Lanterns Hotel, Tarbert on this Thursday night, November 21 at 8pm. Tarbert Bereavement Group are sponsoring this visit by Christy Kenneally and everybody is welcome.
   
  CRAFT FAIR: Tarbert Development Assoc are holding their annual craft fair at the Lanterns Hotel, on Sunday, December 8 from 12 noon to 6pm. A great place to start your Christmas shopping. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
   
  CROSS COUNTRY: Well done to Sorcha and Sinead Prendiville, Pulleegn, on winning gold medals with Listowel AC at the Munster Juvenile u14 cross counry c’ships held in Spancil Hill, Tullow, Co Clare on Sunday.
Missing out on a medal on Sunday through injury was Aoibheann Prendeville. Two weeks ago the Prendiville sisters won gold medals with the Listowel club in the Munster u15 c’ship. Best of luck to the Listowel AC in the All Ireland cross country finals.
   
  GAA LOTTERY: There was no winner of the €6,200 jackpot in the GAA lottery draw, held at Carmodys Bar on Sunday night. The numbers were 13, 17, 18, 22. Lucky dip winners of €30 each were Eimer Ward, Nora Kennelly, Mick Reidy, Danielle Enright. Bar prize winners were bottle of whiskey, sponsored by Carmodys Br, Micheal Lanigan, €15 each, John McGinley, Michael Hennessy, Mary Buckley. Promoters prize €15 The Swanky Bar. The next jackpot will be €6,300, and the draw will be held at The Anchor Bar on this Sunday night.
All welcome.
   
  COLLECTION: A collection in aid of St Lukes Cancer Hospital will be taken up at the Church gate this weekend.
   
  FUN QUIZ: The fun quiz, held at Coolahans Bar on Friday night, in aid of the local special Olympics host town group was a great success and well supported. Another fun quiz for the same cause will be held at The Anchor Bar on this Friday night, November 22 at 9.30pm sharp. Quiz master for this occasion will be Tarbert’s own John O’Dowd, the well known Kerryman newspaper sports writer. Your support will again be very much appreciated.
   
  JUVENILE FUNCTION: Special invited guest at the Tarbert Juvenile football function, held at the Lanterns Hotel on Sunday night was Kerry’s star forward of this years FC, Colm Cooper. Colm was warmly greeted when he arrived at the function, and was a big hit with all the underage players, and everyone present.
Colm presented the victorious NS team, the u12 team and u14 team, with their medals and also presented a number of other awards to players for their performances during the year. The juvenile club, wish to express their thanks to Colm Cooper for his attendance at the function, and wish him every success with the Kerry team in the coming year.
   
  WEDDING BELLS: The wedding took place on Saturday at Christ The Prince of Peace Church, Fossa, Killarney of Miss Catriona O’Neill, daughter of Ena and Brendan O’Neill, Pulleen, Tarbert and Mr Daniel O’Shea, son of Joan and Seamus O’Shea, Glencar. Bridesmaid was Norma McMahon, sister of the bride. Best man was Paudie O’Shea, brother of the groom. Flower girls was Ellen O’Neill, niece of the bride, and page boy was Darragh O’Shea, nephew of the
groom. The ceremony was performed by Very Rev Mossy Brick, PP, Tarbert, assisted by Very Rev Anthony O’Sullivan. The wedding reception was held at the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney. The couple will reside in Glencar.
   
  PRESENTATION FAMILY CENTRE: Registration for computer courses at Presentation Family Centre, Listowel, will take place on Wednesday, December 11 at 11am. Anyone wishing to avail of classes please come to register. An afternoon of reflection for Advent will take place at the Family Centre on Sunday, December 15 from 3pm to 6pm, facilitated by Josephine Fitzgibbon. €3 offering includes refreshments.
   
  RESIDENTS ASSOC: The Kilpadogue and Woodview Place Residents Assoc, private draw results were 1st Noelle McGibney, 2nd prize, James Henchey. The Assoc would like to thank Kieran Walsh for his donation of a supply of coal and briquettes. The next meting will be held on Friday, November 29 at 8.30pm.
   
  LONDON MASS AND AGM: The 28th anniversary Mass and AM of the London/Tarbert Assoc will be held at St Gabriels social club, Hatchard Rd, off Holloway Rd, London N19 on Thursday, November 28. Mass will be celebrated at 8.30pm, followed by the AGM. All Tarbert people and friends living in the London area are invited to attend.
   
  DEATH: It was with regret, people of the parish learned of the death of Mr Thomas Moynihan, Kilelton, Ballylongford, which took place at his residence on Sunday. Thomas was a talented musician and well known music teacher in the area. He spent many evenings in Tarbert teaching music to young boys and girls of the parish, and was instrumental in the formation of the pioneer band in Tarbert in the 80s. Sympathy of the community is extended to his wife, Mary, to his sons, daughters, relatives and friends.
