Tarbert Notes - Week Ending 8th November

LAST Sunday in excellent playing conditions in the newly developed O’RahillyPark, Ballylongford, our senior team made their exit from this year’s NorthKerry championship when they lost to Listowel Emmets by a score of 1–10 to 0–7. This was a fine display by the team against a much more experienced Emmets side, plus the fact that Tarbert were missing seven of their lastyear’s team, most of whom are out with injuries.Tarbert playing against the wind in the first half matched Emmets ball forball for the first 20 minutes with the score at 0–3 to 0–2 in Emmets’favour. The Listowel side dominated the final ten minutes of the half withtheir superior fitness and scored 1–2 to Tarbert’s one point. The Emmets’goal was a lucky one with the wind taking the ball over the goal line afterit came off the post.Tarbert got off to a great start in the second half with points by Darragh Lanigan and Aidan Holly to leave just three pointed between the sides.Tarbert continued to dominate the first 15 minutes but squandered away somegood scoring chances. Emmets dominated the final 15 minutes of the game with their superior team work and added on five more points. It was fitting that Tarbert’s consolation point in the last minute of thegame came from the boot of Aidan Holly, who had a marvellous game atmidfield.
