  Tarbert Notes - Week Ending 1st November
   
  THIS Friday, November 1, is the Feast of All-Saints and a Church holiday.Masses in St Marys Church will be as follows: Vigil Mass on Thursday nightat 7.30pm. Masses on Friday at 9am and 11am. Saturday, November 2, is AllSouls Day. Mass in St Marys Church will be at 11am and Mass in KilnaughtinCemetery at 4pm. There will be a candlelight procession to the graves in thecemeteries after both Masses and also after the Vigil Mass. With thecommencement of old time the Vigil Mass on Saturday nights will now becelebrated at 7.30pm.

   
  COLLECTION: The Special Diocesan Collection which will be taken up at theMasses this weekend will be for Irish Church Commissions and Agencies.

   
  GUN CLUB AGM: The following officers were elected at the Agm of the TarbertGun Club held on Thursday night. Honorary President - John Coleman; Chairman- Dan Kiely; Vice chairman - Willie Flavin; Secretary - Paudie Barron;Treasurers - Gabriel McNamara; Denis Kiely (jnr), Donal Kiely; Safety officer - Denis Kiely. The meeting decided in conjunction with the Tarbert Development Association that Tarbert Bay is now a Bird Sanctuary and the Gun Club wish to state that shooting at this location is strictly forbidden.

   
  LOTTO: There was no winner of the €5900 jackpot in the GAA lottery draw held at the Lanterns Hotel on Sunday night. The numbers were 4, 7, 14, 20. Lucky dip winners of €30 each were Eugene Mulcaire, Eilish Egan, Bridget Lacy, Frankie Fitzell. Bar prize winners were bottle of whiskey sponsored by the Lanterns Hotel - Anne Stack; €15 each to Brenda Hanrahan, Joe Langan, Stella Enright, Teresa Ryan. Promoters prize €15 to Joe Langan. The next jackpot will be €6000 and the draw will be held at the Swanky Bar on this Sunday
night. Her many friends at the Sunday nights lotto would like to wish Josie Mulvihill, Kilpadogue a speedy recovery from her recent hip operation in London.

   
  DRAW RESULTS: The following were the October winners of the Kilpadogue Residents Private Draw - 1, Roast of beef donated by Thomas Kelly, Butcher, Ballylongford - winner was JJ Kelly. 2, Fruit basket donated by Teresa O’Connor, Glin. Winner was Eleanor O’Connell. The residents wish to thank

NK C’SHIP: Tarbert senior team play Listowel Emmets in the first round of the Lanterns Hotel, sponsored Bernard O’Callaghan Memorial North Kerry championship in Ballylongford on this Sunday, November 3, at 2.30pm. Emmets will be the hot favourites for the game as Tarbert will be missing some key players from their lineout. Every Tarbert player on Sunday will have to give of their best for the full hour to have a chance of victory and in the words often spoken by the late Paddy Scanlon - “Have pride in the jersey”.
   
  SET CEILI: West Limerick Set Dancing Club will hold a Set Ceili in theConvent Hall, Abbeyfeale on this Sunday, November 3, at 4pm. Music by Matt Cunningham. All sets called.

   
  DEATH: The death took place recently in St Louis, USA of Sr Colorine Sheehan, late of Tarmons, Tarbert. Aged 96 years, she was the last surviving member of that generation of the Sheehan family. Sr Dolorine, who was 75 years a nun emigrated to the USA at a young age where she joined the Sisters of Mercy. She was a Sister of great holiness and will be missed by her community in St Louis to which she was devoted. In former years she did regular visits back to spend a holiday with her family members in the district. Sr Dolorine was sister of the late Jimmy Sheehan, Tarmons, the late Mrs Murphy, Sallowglen, and the late Denny Sheehan, Ballyhahill, Co Limerick. Mass for the repose of her soul was celebrated in St Marys Church,
Tarbert by Fr Liam Murphy, nephew of the deceased nun. Sympathy of the community is extended to her nephew Seamus Sheehan, Tarmons, niece Mrs Philomena Walsh, Sallowglen, and to all her other nephews, nieces and relatives.

   
  SYMPATHY: Of the community is extended to Danny Gallagher, Tiernaclea, on
the death last week of his brother, Mr Denis Gallagher, Creeslough, Donegal.
   
  JUVENILE GAA: Well done to the Tarbert under 10 team on winning the Johnny Kelly Cup after a lapse of a few years. The team played a beautiful brand of football. Team: E Flavin, G Kennelly, C Diggins, B Mullane, M Buckley, D Wren, C Flavin, J Healy, D Culhane, D Langan (capt), E O’Keeffe, P Culhane, N Kennedy, C Finucane, N O’Sullivan, C Reidy, W Prendergast, M Healy, S O’Hanlon, G O’Sullivan, G Browne, J Enright, M Carrig and P McDermott. Mentors: J Diggins, J O’Sullivan, J Langan. The GAA would like to wish Shane Langan a speedy recovery from his recent hand surgery.
