SENIORS: At Stack Park, Ballybunion on Saturday evening, our Senior team went down to yet another defeat when they lost by one point to Ballyduff in the NKL Div 2 play-off game. The final score was Ballyduff 0-12, Tarbert 0-11.
The first half was evenly contested with Tarbert leading by 0-7 to 0-6 at the break. The game was lost in the opening period of the second half when Ballyduff scored four points in the first five minutes. Tarbert were now faced with an uphill battle, but great points scored by Denis Kiely and substitute Paddy Moriarty kept Tarbert in the game and a point by Kevin Wrenn had the sides level with five minutes to play. Ballyduff finished the stronger team and scored the winning point in the last minute of the game. This was a disappointing result for Tarbert who were beaten in too many positions throughout the field and the team lacked motivation ad gave away possession of the ball too easily.
Best for Tarbert were Deo O’Connor, Denis Kiely, Shane Sheehan, Aidan Holly, Eoin O’Connell, Patsy O’Connell, Jonathan Wrenn and Darragh Lanigan. Despite this defeat Tarbert are still in the competition and will play Knocknagoshel in the semi-final with the winners playing Ballyduff in the final.
