1940's Gallery   Pre 1940's    40's    50's    60's    70's    80's    90's    00's     Centenary 2004       click images to view larger picture       1948 North Kerry Championship       1948 was an eventful year for Tarbert Football as they won the Senior and Minor competitions in the North Kerry Championship.   In the Senior championship Tarbert Defeated Ballydonoghue in the semi final and qualified to play Ballyduff in the final. The team, which was trained by Johnny Sharkey, assisted by Martin Kelly, were at peak fitness after an intensive two week session. The game was played in Ballylongford before a record attendance. Ballyduff proved to be a formidable opposition but in the end Tarbert were deserving winners.             Tarbert Team and substitutes on the day were:-   John Coleman, Ned O Donnell, Sean Wren, Eric Guerin, Paddy Scanlon, Pakie Mulvihill, Brendan Cregan, Michael O Sullivan, Jimmy O Sullivan, Paudie Dillane, Bill Lavery, T.M. O Connor, Dan Casey, Henry O Donnell, Denis O Connell, Frank Lavery, John McGee, Jack O Carroll, Dermot O Connor, Danny Kelly.       1948 Tarbert Team presented at Final       The 1948 Tarbert Team, winners of the North Kerry Championship in that year were given a tremendous reception when they were presented during the interval of this years final on Sunday last at Tarbert. One member travelled especially from London. Others came from Offaly, Galway and Bantry for the occasion.             The team were : -   John Coleman, Ned O'Donnell, Sean Wrenn, Eric Guerin, Pat Scanlon, Pakie Mulvihill, Brendan Cregan, Jimmy Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Paudie Dillane, Bill Lavery, T.M. O'Connor, Dan Casey, Henry O'Donnell, Captain, decd., Denis O'Connell. Subs: John McGee, Jack Carroll, Dermot O'Connor, Frank Lavery. The coach was John Sheehan.       back to top
